2020: THE YEAR OF COMPLEXITY

It’s a complex world we are living in. This month, the GST turned 20 years old and in those two decades alone, the world has experienced the Global Financial Crisis and now a global pandemic which has challenged everything we once knew. With so many changes and complexities taking place, we keep working to stay ahead of the curve: the businesses that thrive are those that have a clear plan but an ability to change quickly when required.

Murchisons are real-time accountants; we encourage our clients to have on line accounting systems so we can all work as a team to provide timely and relevant advice – we are here to help.

SPEED AND GROWTH IN THIS ‘NEW NORMAL’ WORLD

For the past 3 years, Murchisons has experienced 100% growth. This continued growth allows Murchisons to continue to drive to improve and enhance its offering, plus adapt just as quickly. This paves the way for a new wave of talent within the core team. As part of this we’d like to announce Steve Vigolo and Sam Stringer are both moving into roles as Directors, while myself, Roger Mortimer, and Luke Mitchell will become Principal Directors.

Small to medium-sized businesses require tailored solutions during these times. A ‘one size fits all’ approach isn’t appropriate when there are so many varying factors affecting a company, resulting in a plethora of possible questions businesses must ask.

With Steve and Sam now joining the senior management team we are able to concentrate on building on client relationships by working on issues that are relevant to our clients. The increased capacity enhances our ability to act quickly and achieve outcomes.

To ensure we have the complex, technical side of accounting covered, Dominic Wong will become a Technical Director. This will utilise Dominic’s strong skill set and address an increasing need in a complex environment. In his role, he will support directly, both clients and our leadership group.

Murchisons also have other professionals whom we partner with on a need’s basis, enabling us to grow in a scalable way as and when is necessary to manage our client’s needs. This includes outside teams and suppliers that provide insolvency, mortgage, legal advice, plus other larger corporate financial services.

COMMUNICATION IS KEY

Communication is key: key to our internal day-to-day management of accounting but most importantly key to understanding our clients and the goals they want to achieve. For many in our profession, English is a second language and cultural differences can come into play. So, we have designed a dedicated team of nominated ‘Communicators’.

For many clients, goals can be as simple as minimising tax as much as possible without feeling as though there is lack of knowledge. It’s also about helping clients understand the WHY. Why are they doing what they do? It’s about seeking to achieve goals in the most effective manner taking it that one step further. If we don’t listen properly to what our clients are saying, we are not getting the full picture and therefore not helping them find the best practical solution.

Here at Murchisons, our leadership team has in excess of 120 years of combined experience. Looking to the future, our aim is to excel in offering the next level in communication-driven financial expertise – no matter what the world throws our way.
