Intermediate Accountant
Primary Function/General Purpose
Responsible for undertaking all production accounting activities, including preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements and taxation requirements. The Intermediate will play an integral role within the team, assisting in the completion of group work and providing support to Senior Accountants and Managers to deliver quality work for clients.
Key Tasks and
Responsibilities
Ensure workpaper files are complete before providing for review
Provide support to Senior Accountants, Managers, and Directors in the preparation of work for client meetings
Ensure all workflow deadlines are agreed before commencing work and these deadlines are met
Drafting client correspondence for review by Senior Accountants and Managers
Delegating work to Graduate Accountants, and being able to support them in their learning, and review simple jobs as required
Research taxation and other matters and communicate findings with Senior Accountants/Managers/Directors
Compile and analyse financial information to prepare financial statements and tax returns
Liaising with the ATO and other regulatory bodies as required
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Australian Public Practice is preferred
On the pathway to being CA/CPA qualified
Australian degree or equivalent
Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
Knowledge of applicable business and tax laws, codes and regulations
Good application of accounting and taxation. The ability to be able to complete simple business compliance

Intermediates are encouraged to work as part of a team, and provide support to Senior Accountants, Managers, and Directors. The ability to also be able to work independently is important, and this includes developing an understanding of what clients are trying to achieve
and being able to communicate ideas and suggestions to Senior Accountants and Managers for approval.Drafting communication to clients is expected, and this will prepare the Intermediate Accountant for more direct client contact with clients when they move into a Senior Accountant Role.
Reporting to
Intermediates report directly to Senior Accountants, Managers, and Directors.
